I don't relish the thought of living in rural America - my family lives in the rural South and those places have been invaded by MAGA voters and Qanon nutjobs who have regressed to Jim Crow. I feel neither safe nor welcome there. My family is interracial, and we're even talking about leaving Texas because the political and cultural landscape has become so hostile to POC, women and LGBTQ Texans.
